Affects of worldwide plastic garbage

Production: The world now produces more than 380 million tonnes of plastic every year, which could end up us pollutants, entering our natural environment and oceans. It takes atleast 400years to breakdown. Half of the plastic ever manufactured in last 15 years. Production increased exponentially from 2.3 million tones in 1950 to 448 million tones by 2015.Production is excepted to double by 2050.

Chemical used while making plastic: Polycarbonate, Polyactic acid, polypropylene, Dehp, BPA

Harm to Human and wildlife: Plastics often contain chemical additives making them stronger, more flexible and durable. But many of these chemical additives have been associated with serious health problems, such as hormone related cancers, infertility and neurodevelopment . Million of animals are killed by plastics every year. Nearly 700 species are known to have been affected by plastics. Plastic have been consumed by land based animals, including elephants, zebras, cattel and other animals. In some cases causing death.

We consume plastic via packaging: BPA’s are present in many plastic objects that come in direct contact with food, including plastic packaging, kitchenware, and the inner coating of beverages. BPA is metabolized in the liver to form Bisphenol A and it exists our body through our urine.

We drink microplastics via bottled water: The world health organization (WHO) published shocking research in 2018 which exposed the presence of microplastics In 90% of bottled water that had been tested – only 17 were free of plastics out of 259. If thousand of species are dying because of it, it can’t be that good for us either.
